BACKGROUND
Hankamel Taleem is a campaign launched in March 2020, when the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic halted the educational process across the country. The campaign set out to promote the importance of e-learning and its contribution to sustaining education in Libya during that period.
The Moomken team produced a large collection of professional, high-quality educational videos covering different stages of the school year. With the help of a group of expert teachers, the videos were designed to strengthen students’ learning through self-study.
Hankamel Taleem is the first step of the Libyan open e-learning project, an idea that began in 2018. Moomken worked with a number of initiatives to build experience in this area within the Libyan context, starting with a training and development platform called MOCS. That platform was then extended to deliver lessons to primary, preparatory and secondary students: a dedicated site was opened on MOCS.ly, named ht12.ly and branded “Hankamel Taleem”, offering curricula from the third primary to the third secondary level in both literary and scientific tracks.
Through the Hankamel Taleem platform we aim to spread the benefits of e-learning in Libya and use them to improve the quality of educational outcomes and student attainment. The platform will be updated regularly with new lessons covering the current curricula set by the Ministry of Education, and will add interactive features to make the material more useful to visitors and registered users. Direct communication channels will be opened between teachers and students during lessons, allowing student progress to be monitored and learning outcomes assessed. The platform will also help parents follow and evaluate their children’s progress, and reduce spending on private tutors.
